Recently, Serena Williams became the highest paid female athlete in the world. Serena is staying relevant as always, and this time it is through a stunning Wall Street Journal photoshoot and interview (The Root).
In the interview, Serena opens up about being in Beyoncé’s Lemonade and how she’s been friends with Beyoncé for years (YouTube). She also spoke on what life would be like without tennis. Serena said that she might have had kids by now or would have become a veterinarian (Blavity).
“Today Serena Williams is at once a symbol of female and African-American power, a philanthropist, social media influencer, fashion designer and celebrity unlike anyone in women’s sports, who can stand shoulder to shoulder with any icon of her era.”
In addition, Serena shows no sign of slowing down from the tennis world. Serena’s closest competitor is Maria Sharapova, and she hasn’t beaten Serena in over 10 years.
Serena is the epitome of #BlackGirlMagic, and she is a perfect role model for the Black community.
