We’re happy to hear that Marcus Books, the oldest Black-owned bookstore in the nation, is returning to the Fillmore District of San Francisco. This comes after Marcus Books was forced to close its doors after a San Francisco taxi company bought the property the owner was renting.

2. Martial Arts Instructor’s Mentorship to Young Black Boy Goes Viral. [via Atlanta Black Star]

Jason Wilson, a Black martial arts instructor, guides a young student through pain and emotional walls in a heartwarming video that has gone viral.

“You know in life there’s going to be things harder to do than other things?” Wilson says. “It is to going to take tears. It’s going to take the blood of Jesus … But we have to fight through as men.”

We salute Jason Wilson for teaching young Black boys that it is okay to cry and be emotionally vulnerable.

3. Florida Therapist Charles Kinsey Sues Officer Who Shot Him. [via Blavity]

Therapist Charles Kinsey was helping one of his patients with autism when he was shot by North Miami SWAT officer Jonathan Aledda.

Kinsey has now filed a federal lawsuit against Jonathan Aledda. In addition, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch said that the Justice Department is looking into the situation.
