Darren Seals, a leader in the rebellion in Ferguson, Missouri, was found dead in a burned vehicle in a suburb near St. Louis. The police are currently investigating his death as a homicide.
Seals described himself as a revolutionary activist who is also unapologetically Black. After the non-indictment of Darren Wilson in the killing of Mike Brown, it was Seals who stood outside comforting Mike Brown’s mother, Lesley McSpadden.
The death of Seals is being mourned by many in the Black activist community.
Ashley Yates, an activist from St. Louis wrote: “Darren King D Seals stood for Mike Brown and is and will always be a part of my Ferguson family. Rest in power, D.”
Johnetta Elzie, an activist from St. Louis wrote: “I hope his soul is at rest. I truly don’t know what else to say.”
PushBlack offers our condolences to Seals friends and family.
