In a recent poll conducted by Black Youth Project, 48% of young black respondents from ages 18-30 reported that they have faced job discrimination at some point.
The issue of job discrimination is only compounded for black women, as one third of women across all racial groups have reported experiencing gender based discrimination.
The poll had larger and more troubling implications about the relationship between race and economic status. While 31% of whites polled said their race helped their economic standing, 54% of black respondents from the poll indicated that their race hindered their well being.
