Kaepernick Hosts Know Your Rights Camp for Bay Area Youth

Colin Kaepernick has taken his activism to the community by hosting a “Know Your Rights Camp” in Oakland this past Saturday.

His plans for the camp happened long before he took a knee during the National Anthem, as the camp took around six months to coordinate.

Kaepernick’s Know Your Rights Camp had 10 points, which were modeled after the Black Panther Party’s 10-point program.

  1. You have the right to be free
  2. You have the right to be healthy
  3. You have the right to be brilliant
  4. You have the right to be safe
  5. You have the right to be loved
  6. You have the right to be courageous
  7. You have the right to be alive
  8. You have the right to be trusted
  9. You have the right to be educated
  10. You have the right to know your rights

Over 100 kids from Oakland and Richmond, California were in attendance. The campers left with a backpack, beats headphones, a copy of The Autobiography of Malcolm X, as well as a free certificate for DNA testing at Ancestry.com.

It’s great seeing Kaepernick take his activism to the community. It’s clear that Kaepernick truly cares about the future of Black kids in America.
