At PushBlack we’re committed to discussing real issues, turning a lens towards history, and highlighting the awesomeness that is and always will be BLACK. That’s why, in this week’s #BlackJoyMatters post, we want to highlight some melanin-latent smiles that are worthy of a Crest commercial. Special thanks to Essence for promoting these shots of #BlackJoy, available for purchase in hardback form in Andre L. Perry’s latest curation: Happy Black People Volume I.
And while we’re on the subject of toothpaste, we’ve got to shoutout to Dr. Herbert C. Smitherman Sr., who without his invention of ‘Combined Anticalculus and Antiplaque Compositions’ as the first African-American PhD to work at Proctor & Gamble, those Crest smiles may not be so bright. It’s through his work that the Crest formula dramatically improved – and now we can take these wonderful holiday selfies all over the #gram.
P.S. > Since we put our money where our mouth is, here’s a Black-owned toothpaste company that deserves our support!
